’Twas the night before Christmas… when an unusual email landed in the inbox of the Patrons of The Nixon Centre. What it contained would soon spark joy and inspiration across Coweta County in the Art departments of our local schools: an unsolicited $50,000 donation from True Natural Gas.

The unexpected gift, received on Christmas Eve, truly felt like a holiday miracle. So much so, that at first, “we questioned if it was actually a legitimate offer,” said Amanda Duke, Communications Coordinator for the Patrons of The Nixon Centre. “We receive a lot of emails from a wide variety of people and organizations, so while my first instinct was excitement, that was immediately followed with caution and a flurry of screenshots and emails to find out if this was in fact real.”

“This generous donation came completely out of the blue.” said Anne Josey, Board Chair of The Patrons of The Nixon Centre. “To receive this kind of support for the arts, especially on Christmas Eve, was nothing short of magical. Especially once we confirmed that it was in fact real. It’s a gift that will keep giving for years to come.”

Earlier this year the Patron Board made the decision to put this donation to good work in the community, using it to further their Grow the Arts program that provides direct grants to Coweta County School System teachers to strengthen arts education. In previous years, grants have funded art supplies, classroom instruments, stage lighting, and creative learning experiences.

Thanks to this donation, the Patrons have opened a special grant cycle, offering grants of up to $5,000 per project for permanent arts equipment and installations, items that will make a lasting impact. Eligible projects may include instruments, pottery kilns, sound systems, stage curtains, murals, and more.

“These types of items can transform a program,” said Anne Josey. “They become part of the school’s culture, giving students access to the arts every single day.”

True Natural Gas, a longtime community partner, has supported a variety of educational and cultural initiatives across Georgia. Their holiday generosity ensures that the creative spirit in Coweta County schools continues to thrive.

Applications for the special Grow the Arts - True Natural Gas grant cycle are now available and may be accessed online at http://bit.ly/49brkpt. Teachers and school administrators are encouraged to apply for funding that can elevate their arts programs in a unique and substantial way.
